We build things we'd want to use.

Why we build

Agency by day. Founders at heart.

Most agencies talk about product thinking. We practice it. Alongside client work, we design, build, and run our own digital products, from concept to launch to real users. It keeps us honest about what building something actually takes: the decisions that don't show up in a brief, the features that get cut because they don't matter, the retention problems nobody warned you about. Everything we've learned from our own products is in every project we take on.

Earlier work

These are where a lot of our early thinking about Japanese learning came from. JLRPG in particular gave us our first real glimpse into the Japanese language learning landscape — user behavior, motivation, where people drop off — which fed directly into everything we built after.

Japanese Language RPG Quest

Learn Japanese through an RPG adventure.

An RPG game for learning Japanese. You navigate real-world scenarios in Japan, pick up vocabulary and grammar through quests and characters, and slowly shift from English to Japanese as your skills improve. Built with art by Brunchy Cafe, it earned a sizeable userbase and taught us how people actually engage (and disengage) with language learning. Those lessons shaped everything we built next.

Sensei Series

iOS Apps

Sensei Series

The originals that started it all.

Three focused apps for learning the Japanese scripts: Hiragana Sensei 1, Hiragana Sensei 2, and Katakana Sensei. Simple, effective, no fluff. They predated everything else and introduced a lot of learners to Skydea. The Sensei characters later found a home inside JLRPG.

What this means for you

You're working with a team that ships.

Every product we build goes through the same process as client work: brief, strategy, design, build, launch, learn. The difference is the consequences are ours. We deal with acquisition, retention, churn, and platform dependencies as founders, not as advisors who hand off a Figma file and move on. That shapes how we think about every project we take on. When we ask about your users, your growth model, your technical constraints — we're asking because we've been there.
